Very interesting mix of genres and soundsets! I love it! The transition into Drumstep was very smooth! The stutter effects after that are really tastefully done, and you can hear they've had a lot of attention.

I think for the second drop, you could layer the lead with a +1 octave supersaw (or even take the existing sound and +1 octave it) to really make the most of that crescendo and elevate it above the rest of the track.

CrazyKryz13 responds:

Thank you! I will take notes on that and try my best.

This is awesome. Really high level of production, and plenty of Infected Mushroom -style transitions.

Qilin responds:

Thank you, that is great to hear. I'm personally not that much an IM fan, so idk much about their transitions :D

I really appreciate the minimalism here. The effects are subtle, the pitch bending is really delicately done, and that light touch production method really has me head-bopping to this.

I would love to hear this expanded upon.

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback. I’ll certainly try to make some more stuff and possibly work with this some more.

I like the ideas in this. There are some riffs which are very nice too - particularly the saw in the second passage

It's possible you're trying to produce something unique, and it's negating the effectiveness of the track. For instance, you have a bass stab which fades in and out. I think you'd benefit more from losing that automation and having it static. The double kick muddies the mix, and you would probably find the track is more defined by having a simple 4/4 style. Where your kick lands on the bassline on it's second hit, it's usually a cardinal sin.

Jeansowaty responds:

I'll be frank, the beat pattern is like that because I recreated it from a song generated with Melobytes playing at 95 BPM. I felt it could sound pretty surreal and innovative if sped up to 137 BPM. As for the bass, I guess I tried to add some variety. And yeah you're very right, I'm not trying to create something generic/typical. Modern techno/trance is usually pretty on the grid and the word "cardinal" you said is pretty much an effect of that, there's barely any place for innovation. I like to experiment, maybe the end result is not gonna be very great, but it's a lesson for me to see what works and what does not :) Your suggestions are easy to apply though. Thanks for the feedback!

I think there's plenty of production qualities in here, but I think the track lacks a musical aspect and needs a bassline glueing everything together. By sticking to it's key and not modulating or following a progression, you've ended up having a rigid track falling out of tune that's relying on effects a little too much to remain interesting. That said, taking these sounds and effects and fitting them to a chord progression could really bring this alive

Tomare en cuenta tus consejos. Muchas gracias

I love the progressive nature of this track, building and building into a crescendo. An observation I would make is that your percussion become very lost in the mix when so many dominant elements are playing.

Мне нравится прогрессивный характер этого трека, нарастающий и нарастающий до крещендо. Я хотел бы отметить, что перкуссия сильно теряется в миксе, когда играет так много доминирующих элементов.

MicroMusician responds:

Да, что-то я не подумал о перкуссии и увлёкся прогрессией. В любом случае спасибо за отзыв! Постараюсь в следующий раз учесть этот недочёт.

Yeah, I didn't think about percussion and got carried away with the progression. Anyway, thanks for the feedback! I'll try to take this into account next time.

Hi, nice start on this. You have a couple of key elements you need to pull together a song, but there are parts you need to take it to the next step.

Start with finding a kick and bass combo that works, and that work nicely together in the mix, then layer in percussion such as off-beat hats, on-beat rides and every-other-beat snares. This will give you a more solid foundation to use when structuring a song layout. I hope this helps you on your production adventure!

X-500 responds:

Yes thanks!

Nice ideas in here. You've done a nice job of structuring a track and sound-setting. You've not overpopulated the mix with samples and sounds that needlessly muddy the production.

So now that you have a set of sounds and a structure, try seeing where you can take it to add an energy to the track that it might be missing. You have a cool 4/4 beat on the drop, so add a nice ride to the kick. Alternatively, find a percussion loop to gently layer to have a more complicate pre-made percussion solution. Trim the tail of the kick (the bassy offshott that starts to clash with the bassline) to make it more punchy. You have a nice bassline, but it's a bit safe. Try layering it with a saw to provide depth and add a little more air to the mix (other than hats and the acid sound, there's not a lot of high end. The acid lead is quite overpowering, so consider dropping it into the mix a bit more by reducing the volume, and play with automation to verify the sound and keep it interesting.

I hope that helps! Lots of great ideas, and these suggestions are what I would do if I were in your boots :)

GlitchmanVGM responds:

Wow, thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed, thorough review! You have great suggestions. You sound like an experienced musician. I definitely will keep them in mind. :)

Lots of nice ideas in here, and I'm a lover of the big long-tailed kicks from the 90's. The snare flutters really compliment that too! I think the vocal could use more processing to blend it into the mix. Possibly some equalising and reverb and delay to bed it in.

Also look at an off-beat stab to sit between the kicks. In modern Hardcore, this is where the bass stabs would sit, but in older Hardcore, the a saw stab really helped add the energy.

Hikari responds:

Thank you for your comment! Im really excited to finish this thing. I will defiantly make a stab!
